International mobilisation against the Mont Faron Zoo!

The Zoo du Mont Faron is located in Toulon, France. The animals are living in terrible conditions.

They are being held in cages that are too small
The animals have minimal activity
They are walking back and forth because of stress
The animals behave abnormal and some of them seem to be a bit crazy
Some of the animals suffer from pain

The zoo is involved in CRESAM program which promotes the artificial insemination of endangered species in Africa. In 2006 some of the seed samples were taken from the animal of Zoo du Mont Faron.

The CRESAM program should have taken into account that the zoo has been open for business despite the bad conditions of the animals.

AVES, a French animal protection organization already tried to close the zoo because the conditions of the animals haven’t been improved.

The zoo has all the authorisations. The veterinary administration doesn't recognize the problems. They think the animals are healthy and provided with good enough conditions.

We don’t allow that animals are kept in such bad conditions in Europe.
We demand that this kind of animal cruelty stops.
We demand that that the Zoo du Mont Faron transfer some of the animals and create much larger cages for the rest. The cages must also be more similar to natural conditions and the cages have to offer more activity for the animals. Less animals, more space.

If the zoo is not able to improve the living conditions of the animals, we demand that the zoo will close down.
